At the weekend the bus was used for what would seem to have been its original and intended purpose - transporting, as the "VW Transporter" name would appear to suggest.

Saturday was a DIY Megastore extravaganza - with multiple journeys to Homebase in Livingston to fill up with all sorts of flooring panels and extra long bits of floor edging...the sort of stuff that doesn't fit in our Fiesta. Having put in a load of massive slatey-type floor tiles (to use in the new house, I wasn't actually trying to lay a new floor in the van...though that's a thought) I was worried that it wouldn't move. It shouldn't have been a concern - the bus pulled away and roared up the dual carriageway as if there was no extra load. When you think of the number of T25 panel vans you still see builders cruising about in, it should hardly be a surprise that they perform so well.

Sunday saw the Banana Bus loaded up with around 3/4 of a tonne of aggregates - leftover stones and chippings to be delivered to Gail's friend in West Lothian. Once again the bus performed heroically and hauled the stones (that sounds like it should be a bit of slang "haul the stones, man" - can't think what it would mean...? to East Calder like a good 'un.
